Lower Monumental Anchor Cable Dredging

Project Date: 2020
Customer: USACE, Walla Walla

Project scope:
AUS Diving was the prime contractor on this project to replace a failed anchor cable on the navigation guidance wall at the Lower Monumental Lock and Dam. The cable connection point to its submerged anchor was buried under many feet of silt. KCS supported AUS Diving and their customer, the US Army Corps of Engineers, with our cranes and sectional barge to 140 ton Manitowoc 3900 Series II and 80 ton capacity Terex HC80 crawler cranes and other equipment to dredge the silt from around the anchor to allow safe access for the divers to reconnect the cable.

Quality key points:
1. Work completed using KCS-owned barges and crane
2. Dredged a total of 2400 yards
